Casinos Against Smoking Bans

A blog that is all things casino says smoking bans in gaming places is a bad idea - and likely not needed.

OnlineCasinoSphere.com offers up this editorial piece on why Michigan should stop thinking of a statewide smoking ban - even if casinos are exempted. Here is an enlightening excerpt about what the other side of cessation thinks:

{The chief medical executive of the Michigan Department of Community Health Greg} Holzman also asserts 2600 people die each year in Michigan from second-hand smoke. Is there medical evidence behind this? Have coroners filled out "second-hand smoke" as the cause of death? Or is the number simple conjecture, and "heart disease" the actual cause of death?

A woman's case is cited because she died from an asthma attack brought on (in theory) by second-hand smoke. That makes one death, not 2600.

Anti-smoking sites are rife with evidence from tainted studies about effects of second-hand smoke. Meanwhile, these same sites say there is no downturn in business at establishments nationwide when smoking was banned. This is simply a lie.
